On 15 and 16 November 2024, Abidjan, the capital of Côte d'Ivoire, hosted a regional training workshop on the requirements of the decision support tool for sustainable planning and management of water resources in the Volta basin.
August 25-30, 2019, GWP had a strong presence at this year’s Stockholm World Water Week (WWW). A large delegation participated in over 30 sessions, and the GWP Strategy for 2020-2025 was launched at a side event. Youth Professionals’ booth – was jointly hosted by GWP and Asian Development Bank (ADB), sharing youth engagement stories and operation model by GWP China, ASEAN, GWPO, ADB youth and water teams, Central Asia Youth for Water Network and Water Youth Network.
To strengthen the knowledge capacity of female leaders, members of the community and the media in the Far North Region of Cameroon on dental fluorosis, the Cameroon Country Water Partnership (GWP-Cmr) organized a two-day training from June 24th – 25th in Maroua, Cameroon
Liza Debevec joined the global GWP secretariat in May 2020 as Senior Gender & Water Specialist. This is the first time GWP has a full-time person dedicated to gender, and Liza’s task will be to operationalize the gender dimensions of GWP's 2020-2025 Strategy, and more specifically the GWP Gender Strategy and Gender Action Piece. In this Q&A interview, Liza shares thoughts on her new role: “The biggest gender and social inclusion challenge in every sector, not just in water resources management, is that of access, or the lack of access to relevant resources that women and vulnerable communities face.”
Fifteen media representatives in Cameroon have been trained on issues related to the water, climate and environment sector and some key national and regional laws that seek to address them. This media mobilization workshop was organized by GWP-CAf from June 9th - 10th, 2021 in Douala, Cameroon. .
The UNEP-UNDP National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) organized a joint webinar on accessing the GCF Readiness Support for National Adaptation Plan (NAP) on Wednesday, 8 December 2021. The webinar was attended by close to 100 participants representing GCF National Designated Authorities (NDAs), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Focal Points, GCF Direct Access Entities (DAEs) and technical advisors, water, and climate specialists.
