Global Water Partnership Southern Africa - Africa is based in Pretoria, South Africa. The Secretariat also serves as the coordination unit for various programmes following the new strategy. Below, is a list of our team members who are working hard to ensure a more water secure continent.

2nd Public Consultation on Sevan Basin Management Plan

A second Public Consultation on the Sevan Basin Management Plan was held in Armenia from June 11 to 17 July, 2020. The consultation was organised on the programme of measures for Sevan and Hrazdan river basins districts. This is part of the River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) developed for Sevan and Hrazdan river basins within EUWI+.

VBA organizes Committee of Experts and Council of Ministers in Accra, Ghana

The Executive Secretary of Ghana Country Water Partnership participated from 6th to 9th May 2019, in the meeting of the Technical Committee of Experts of the Volta Basin Authority at Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra, Ghana. About forty (40) participants were present, drawn from the six (6) riparian States of the basin, notably the focal points of the VBA in the countries and technical and financial partners including the IUCN, GWP-WA, UEMOA, and Water Integrity Network (WIN). Also, technical structures from Ghana participated in the meeting.

Regional Report

The idea underpinning this Regional Report was to impart a regional perspective to the systematic work done in the four focus countries and to put together findings from the respective technical documents in one report to help stakeholders from the countries and the region become aware of similarities as well as peculiarities belonging to the individual countries. Considering the above, the Regional Report first reviews briefly the nexus of governance and sustainable financing for the water sector, with emphasis on private sector participation, then reflects on the findings of the national and regional dialogues of the Project, highlighting core cases from the focus countries and concludes with reflections on the way forward.

Capacity Building Workshop on 'Non-Conventional Water Resources Management: Local Solutions'

The regional organisation Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and the Energy and Water Agency (EWA) of Malta are organizing the Capacity Building Workshop ‘Non-Conventional Water Resources Management: Local Solutions’, that will take place on 13 and 14 November 2019 and will be hosted by the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST).
