The event tackled the roles of LGUs, water districts, and stakeholders in the watersheds, updates and best practices in watershed management as well as other ingredients to ensure protection of our valued watersheds, in the context of planning, collaboration and action.
Key challenges to water security including, for instance, rapid population growth, climate change, and pollution are not bound to specific administrative boundaries. The transboundary cooperation programme was set up to address such critical challenges and promote good governance over shared water courses and aquifers.
SDGs refer to a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years (2016-2030). GWP China focuses on SDG#6, the Energy Foundation on SDG#7, and WRI on SDG#2, which makes three lead players integrating the goals from a multilateral aspect.
