Alioune Bagou DIARRA has been recruited as the new Executive Secretary for the Country Water Partnership of Mali from June 1ST 2018. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Water and Environment from 2IE, an advanced degree in Applied Chemistry.

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) has embarked on a new initiative under its Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) called “Climate-Proofing Water Investment in the Caribbean” which is being executed in partnership with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC).  

Many activities were carried out in Burkina Faso where the CWP has chosen the Larlé Naaba TIGRE as a Patron early February 2018.

A call for university professors has been launched to participate in a workshop to review and comment the ToolBox Teaching Manual by professors from Latin America specializing in different aspects of water management who have deep experience both in research and teaching water management. The event will take place in Panama City on July 25-27, 2018.

The Geoscience and Society Summit: Bridges to Global Health, Resilience and Sustainability (GSS-2019) is an international conference with workshops that will take place from 18-21 March 2019 in Stockholm, Sweden.

India Water Partnership (IWP) in collaboration with Nirmal Hindon Initiative, 2030 Water Resources Group, WAPCOS Ltd. and Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritag’s (INTACH’s) Natural Heritage Division organised a Technical Workshop on knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building of Stakeholders for Preparing the Road Map for Collective Action for Hindon River Rejuvenation on 9 June 2018 at the Office of Commissioner, Meerut Division (Uttar Pradesh).

The Orange-Senqu River Basin is a transboundary water resource shared by Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa, managed by the Orange–Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM) - a GWP Southern Africa Partner. The Commission was established in 2000 and in this interview, Executive Secretary Lenka Thamae describes the partnership and issues at hand.

One of the prerequisites to successful water resources management plans is the need for them to be gender sensitive. Some 40 key stakeholders from the government; private companies and banks; research institutes and Academia; media as well as the Civil Society discussed and contributed to the final draft of the Report ‘Governance in Palestine: Sector Reform to include Private Sector Participation’, during the Third Consultation Workshop of the Palestinian Water Policy Dialogue. The workshop was organised by the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med), within the Union for the Mediterranean project Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector and under the patronage of H.E. Mazen Ghuneim, Chairman of the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA), in Ramallah, on 16 June 2015.
