More than half the world’s population depends upon water resources shared by more than one country. The Handbook provides guidance on planning and collaboration beyond national boundaries. In successive sections, it addresses the concepts of cooperation, governance, information systems, participation, planning and financing. It considers the specific challenges related to inland waterways, major water infrastructure, ecosystems and climate change. This Handbook was produced jointly by GWP and the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) in order to capture experiences with planning and implementing IWRM.

The Chair and Executive Secretary of the Ivory Coast Country Water Partnership (PNECI) have met the Focal Point of the national platform for the reduction of disaster risks. This is meant to mobilize key partners for the implementation of the Integrated Flood management Programme in Ivory Coast.

 

GWP Southeast Asia has produced a video as part of their Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP). It introduces the district of Maesot in west Thailand, where communities are helping each other to deal with flood related problems.

The acting Chair of the Regional Steering Committee for Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa, Prof Munguti Katua, told 15 delegates from Country Water Partnerships that GWP’s vision—‘a water secure world is achievable, if the present momentum is kept.”

Small and medium size communities in Central Europe are faced with severe problems of waste water management. When it comes to waste water management, small settlements (with less than 2,000 inhabitants) lie outside of the concern of water managers and decision makers. A group of citizens initiated a cooperation process with civic associations, members of local authorities and later the cooperation included local small entrepreneurs as well as foreign investors to actualize a number of local projects and initiatives.

To Celebrate the World Water Day 2012, Indonesia Water Partnership in cooperation with other government and other stakeholders hosted a seminar on "Water resistance to National Food Security through National Reformation" in Jakarta on 19 April 2012 and joining the World Water Day highlight events with the Ministry of Public Works through the Directorate General of water resources (SDA) held in West Java province in Situ Cipule on May 12, 2012 with the theme "Water and Food Security". 

Last year a group of youth from more than 20 countries started a global initiative where they produced a white paper in the lead up to COP21, which allowed for a Youth Commitment under the Lima-Paris Action Agenda. GWP and partners are now taking the next step in launching a youth portal, where the voices of the young people will be gathered in one place. The portal is launched on World Water Day, 22 March.

The 11^th Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP SA) Consulting Partners meeting will be held from the 13^th to the 14^th of October 2015 in Pretoria, South Africa. The meeting that is held after every two years brings together the GWP Partners in Southern Africa, GWP SA Board, Regional Technical Committee (RTEC) and the GWP SA Secretariat staff. Also invited are the Strategic Partners with whom GWP SA has programmatic alliances, but these are self-funded.

On November 9, 2015, theGWP China Secretariat organized a working meeting in Jiangxi Province. The representatives of secretariats of Regional, Provincial and River Basin Water Partnerships convened in Jiangxi reviewing the 2015 work progress and discussing the implementation of 2016 plans.
