In the framework of the 25th anniversary of GWP Network, GWP-WA organized its 6th media awards around the theme “"Water Security and Climate Resilience in West Africa: Acting for the Well-Being of the Populations". The winners were made known in a communiqué released on September 25.
On March 11, 2021, the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) organized a virtual workshop to launch the activities of the study on the impacts of climate change and the cost of adaptation on the agricultural, water and coastal sectors in West Africa.
The Water ChangeMaker Awards are a new initiative that seeks to highlight experiences in the way water decisions have built climate resilience. The initiative was launched on World Water Day 2020, March 22.
Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), the regional body of Global Water Partnership (GWP), is seeking applications for the recruitment of its Chairperson.
The Global Water Partnership aims at supporting countries in the sustainable management of their water resources with a view to achieving their development goals. GWP recognizes that the overall development goals of poverty eradication, social and economic well-being and protection of natural resources cannot be achieved if water resources are not managed in a sustainable manner.
In 2019, GWP, in collaboration with UNDP Cap-Net and Wageningen University, launched the “Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (MSP) for Improved Water Governance Programme.” The MSP Programme is a learning and knowledge initiative that aims to build the capacity of our network at regional and country level and use this experience to leverage insights on how to coordinate effective multi-stakeholder action towards improved water governance.
In celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day commemorated under the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, the female staff of the regional secretariat of GWP-Central Africa, took part in a training on good practices of vegetative propagation in agroforestry to promote climate adaptation and build resilience.
