In July, a 3-part webinar series was held on “Coordinating, Implementing, and Financing National Climate and Water Policy Frameworks”. The series was developed by GWP and Cap-Net, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA), Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), and the Water Governance Facility. The sessions highlighted climate and water linkages in national frameworks such as the National Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and various investment mechanisms.
Organized by the MInistry of Water Resource and Energy and the Cameroon Country Water Partnership (GWP-Cmr), the Republic of Cameroon held a stakeholder consultation on July 23rd 2020 to validate the national report on Sustainable Development Goal indicator 6.5.1 which measures the degree of implementation of Integrated Water Resources (IWRM) .
The Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) Regional Council announced the appointment of Dr Nilufa Islam as the GWP SAS Chairperson in effective of 16 July 2020.
Facilitated by the Central African Republic Country Water Partnership (CWP-CAR) , Central African Republic is the first country in the region to hold a stakeholder consultation workshop to validate the national monitoring report on indicator 6.5.1 of the Sustainable Development Goals. GWP co-designed a webinar series on farmer-led irrigation (FLI) in partnership with the World Bank, the International Water Management Institute, and the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute. The 2-part series, which concluded on 9 July, highlighted the need for innovative water solutions to support agricultural production systems in a changing climate. FLI development has gained increased attention as one of the solutions to build climate resilience for smallholder farmers. GWP is involved with stakeholders in several countries on FLI initiatives.
13 July 2020, college students completed their first and special social practice ONLINE jointly underpinned by GWP China, IWA, universities of Shanghai, the private sector, research institutions and more NGOs.
