The 19th NPC and CPPCC opened assemble sessions on 5 March and 3 March, 2018, respectively, namely, “Two Sessions”.

From 20-24 November 2017, CWP-Benin represented by Rachel ARAYE took part in the Sharing Skills Seminar organized by the VIA WATER programme in Ghana. This seminar was hosted by the ISGC (International Student Guest Centre) and attended by 26 innovative project leaders on water, sanitation and agriculture issues from seven (7) countries: Benin, Mali, Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya, Mozambique and India.

20 Mediterranean journalists, members of the Circle of Mediterranean Journalists for Environment and Sustainable Development (COMJESD - founded in 2002 by MIO-ECSDE and GWP-Med) , and 45 NGO representatives participated in a series of events with emphasis on Mediterranean Coastal Wetlands in Rabat, Morocco, on 16-18 December 2019.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature Central Africa and West African Programme (IUCN/ PACO) as part of its program "Partnership for environmental Governancein West Africa - PAGE",Global Water Partnership West Africa(GWP / WA ) and the RegionalPartnership for the Conservation of coastal and marine zone in West Africa(PRCM) as part of their respective work programs are launching the fifth edition of the "Water and Environment" media contest.

This World Water Day, 22nd March, is about tackling the water crisis by addressing the reasons why so many people are being left behind. GWP joins the worldwide celebrations of the day, and shows online support on its newly launched Instagram account.

The Cholistan Desert area is one of the largest deserts in Pakistan and is home to a semi-nomadic population and their livestock.  The primary source of income for Cholistan is cattle breeding. The climate of the desert area, with scanty and unpredictable rainfall as well as long periods of drought, makes water a limited resource. To address the issue of water shortages and to secure access of water to livestock, the people of Cholistan have created water ponds, called “tobas”. However, due to their vulnerability to extreme weather conditions and infiltration, the ponds storage capacities are low. There are around 1500 water points (tobas) in the entire desert out of only 500 were in running condition. Most tobas are not constructed in proper places because their present localities have not been identified on scientific basis to receive maximum rainwater.

GWP is collaborating with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat and other partners to create a vision and plausible water solutions of a desirable climate-resilient future in 2030 and beyond. The new initiative is called "Water Resilience Frontiers: Pathways for transformational Climate Resilient Water Security in 2030 and Beyond". The initiative is part of the UNFCCC Nairobi Work Programme’s Resilience Frontiers. The UNFCCC is convening a Resilience Lab for the duration of COP25. Hurricane relief efforts are underway in Abaco and Grand Bahama. Search and recovery efforts continue, as you have probably seen or heard in the news. Shortly, our Partner, the Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) of The Bahamas, will start rebuilding the water and sewerage infrastructure.

GWP Central America held its annual General Assembly in Costa Rica on April 1, with the participation of 40 partner organisations. The activity was organised as a parallel event during the Latin American Sanitation Conference (LATINOSAN 2019), to integrate partners in the sanitation discussions carried out during the conference.
