Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Cartagena Convention Secretariat/Caribbean Environment Programme (CEP), are supporting several projects under the Multilateral Environmental Agreements in ACP Countries.

On 16 and 17 May 2022 in Dakar, the Virtual University of Senegal convened a workshop to launch its flagship programmes. Dr. Adrien COLY, the CWP chair participated in this workshop.

The 2021 edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference - also known as COP26 - takes place in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from 31 October to 12 November. The event brings countries together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. As in previous years, GWP will be active at the COP to bring water insights to the climate agenda.

Engr. Quamrul Islam Siddique was a prominent alumnus of the Department of Civil Engineering who is a freedom fighter, leader and a modern architect of rural infrastructure development in Bangladesh. He played the leading role in establishing of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in its present form. He died of on 1 September 2008 at the age of 63.

For the last three years (2020-2022), GWP and Cap-Net UNDP, with the support of UNEP and UNDP and under the guidance of UNEP-DHI, have implemented a pilot project to help countries protect and restore freshwater ecosystems, with a focus on increasing awareness of environmental data available, capacity development, and action planning through multi-stakeholder engagement.

The Chad Country Water Partnership (GWP-Tchad) becomes the 5th and final Country Water Partnership within the GWP- Central Africa Network to be accredited.

Kenneth Alfaro Alvarado is Project Cooridinator for Water Pollution Prevention at Nicoya Peninsula Waterkeeper in Costa Rica. The non-profit organisation has been a GWP Partner since 2013 - their motivation to join the GWP network was a wish to participate in the processes around Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). On 12 December, the United Nations, United Kingdom, and France, in partnership with Chile and Italy, will co-host a virtual Climate Ambition Summit 2020 to mark the fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Paris Agreement.
