In 2020, GWP South America organised a contest among regional Partners. The topic was on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and featured projects successfully carried out in 2020. The top 5 submissions were shared in a series of webinars during April to June this year – presenting results, conclusions, and concerns.
Building on the 10-year legacy of the "Mission Water" program, which implemented 19 technical solutions in Cyprus that save more than 38 million litres of water every year, "Zero Drop - Mission Water" is a new program which aims to promote the use of recycled water and improve the irrigation of green spaces in Cyprus, while saving 5,000,000 litres of water annually.

With hand-washing as one of the top recommendations to hinder the spread of COVID-19, the lack of access to clean water and sanitation in many parts of the world is being reported on extensively in media. Water management, and in particular the impact of climate change on water resources, has come to the fore. In recent years, GWP has collaborated with UNICEF on this issue, developing a Strategic Framework for Climate Resilience and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), including a Help Desk that is being developed to support users of the Framework.
AMMAN - Sweden, the Union for the Mediterranean and the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean, on Monday, 8 May 2023, inaugurated integrated technical solutions for sustainable agriculture in Salt Governorate. These involve reuse of treated wastewater from Wadi Shuayb Wastewater Treatment Plant for irrigation, after its tertiary treatment through constructed wetlands, with pumping powered by renewable solar energy, and climate-resilient planting.
