IHE Delft is organising the symposium 'From Capacity Development to Implementation Science' on 27-29 May. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be held online. This is the 6th edition of the international symposium, which highlights knowledge and capacity development for the water sector.
The Water Resources Commission (WRC), in collaboration with the Country Water Partnership - Ghana (CWP-Ghana) is conducting a review of the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) plans for the Pra and Tano Basins.
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has worked on water for food issues for over four decades, and therefore the decision to join the Water ChangeMaker Awards as a Knowledge Partner was a happy one, says Claudia Ringler, Deputy Division Director of IFPRI's Environment and Production Technology Division. Under the framework of the implementation of the project entitled « Integrating Flood and Drought Management and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin » (VFDM), WMO, VBA and GWP-WA have planned to organize a series of eight (8) national training workshops in the six (06) countries of the Volta Basin on the theme "Gender Mainstreaming in the End-to-End Early Warning System for Flood Forecasting and Integrated Flood Risk Management".
Following a study conducted by GWP-Cameroon within the context of the AIP Water Climate Development-Gender Program (WACDEP-G) to identify the formal and informal barriers to gender equality in the planning and implementation of development projects in the country’s water and climate sector, a stakeholder dialogue was held in Douala from April 29th – 30th to consolidate and enrich the results and recommendations of the study.
Efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of Country Water Partnerships (CWPs) in Southern Africa continued at a virtual workshop convened by GWPSA with support by GWP Organisation on 12 November.
The project in its design and implementation respects the rules and legal provisions that apply to the W Park zone and its buffer and influence zones, while developing and strengthening collaboration with the central and decentralised services in charge of the management of the W National Park.
GWP and Wuhan International Water Law Academy are co-organising an interactive online series called the "Transboundary freshwater security governance train". The sessions are conducted in an approach of a ‘train’ stopping at various locations in the world. At each of the stops, a different topic from the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security is explored. On 16 March, the 3rd session looks at river basin organisations and the implementation of legal commitments.
Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) together with GWP, UNICEF and WaterAid are co-convening a 3-part webinar series to strengthen partners’ knowledge of and capacity to integrate water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and climate policies, plans, action, and financing. The events are scheduled for 13, 20 and 29 April. Recordings of the events are available after the event.
