Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) is working with Country Water Partnerships (CWPs) in the region to operationalise programme plans and facilitate their accreditation with the Global Water Partnership Organisation (GWPO) in Sweden.
As part of Inter-Regional and South-South Cooperation within the GWP network, Global Water Partnership South America (GWP SAM) in collaboration with Global Water Partnership, Central Africa (GWP-CAf) organized a webinar in Portuguese on November 19, 2020 to introduce the Integrated Water Resource Management – IWRM Toolbox by GWP to partners in Sao Tome and Principe in a bid to find out their IWRM learning needs and preferences.
Global Water Partnership had its online ‘Follow the Sun’ consultation on 25-26 June for all regions. Each region had two hours starting with GWP Southern Africa at 12:00 to 14:00 on 25 June and ending with GWP Eastern Africa at 15:00 to 17:00 on 26 June 2019. GWP West Africa had its regional consultation on 26 June 2019 from 10:00 to 12:00 with two country sites (Abidjan and Abuja) participating. Conakry and Banjul could not join because of technical issues related to internet connection on these sites.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) Technical Committee (TEC) consists of Caribbean professionals selected for their experience in different disciplines in or related to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
Thanks to the financial support of Global Water Partnership (GWPO) and GWP-Central Africa as part of the network’s youth engagement support, the Water and Climate Network of Central African Youth Organizations (RECOJAC) participated in the 9th World Water Forum held on March 21st to 26th in Dakar, Senegal.
The Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government have formally adopted the progressive Continental Africa Water Investment Program (AIP), during its 34th Ordinary Session, held on 7th February, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
A GWPSA delegation, led by Executive Secretary Mr. Alex Simalabwi, has met with H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, on 9 September 2021 in Zanzibar Town to discuss GWP work in the region.
Dr. Agnes Kalibata, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to the Food Systems Summit; and Gilbert F. Houngbo, UN-Water Chair and President of the International Fund for Agriculture Development, are convening an online global dialogue on water on 27 April.
