Towards a WEM Framework Programme within the UfM Water Agenda

The Water-Employment-Migration (WEM) Lab II (19-20 November 2019, Istanbul), brought together representatives of key institutions (including on migration and labour), governments and stakeholders including the private sector civil society and academia, to identify related challenges, possible solutions and synergies among a range of partners. The focus was on addressing key lines towards building the WEM Framework Programme of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Agenda, building on contributions by on-going and future actions and projects.

Water Development in Mountain Counties

In June 2020, the Ministry of Water Resources sent an expert team to Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, to explore water development regarding science and technology in mountain areas. Prof Yunzhong Jiang, regional coordinator of GWP China, was one of the professional advisors.

Benin raises awareness of municipalities on the charter of good governance in the water sector

The consortium implementing the Governance Component of the OmiDelta Programme organized on Friday 20 December 2019 a stakeholder information and awareness raising workshop on the charter for good governance in the water sector in Bohicon. The workshop brought together various stakeholders including communal stakeholders, NGOs, the Zou decentralized water service and the CWP partners.

GWP-SEA Engaged Private Sectors to increase IWRM implementation in Indonesia through Indonesia Water Coalition

By the end of 2018, GWP-SEA and the partners in Indonesia has successfully established a stepping stone to better-delivering water management through the formulation of a position paper on the inclusion of community-based water and sanitation program. Most of the recommendation was adopted by the new Water Bill that was enacted in 2019. Following this success, in 2020 GWP-SEA has further its collaboration with the private sectors in Indonesia to become one of the founding members of the Indonesia Water Coalition. To formalize the collaboration the charter signing ceremony was held.
