Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean is seeking to hire a Programme Officer to be stationed at and support operations of its Tunis Office. The successful candidate will be hired by MIO-ECSDE, a civil non- profit society based in Greece, in its capacity as Host Institute for GWP-Med.
SDG 6.2 states “to achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation, paying special attention to the needs of women and girls and those in vulnerable situations”. To contribute to that hygiene education is a necessity in any development programme in order to contribute as well to “end all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere” (SDG5.1).
“Water resources management is a learning process”, said GWP Executive Secretary Monika Weber-Fahr while on a visit to South America. She spent 26-29 March meeting with representatives of the key water agencies of Argentina and Chile. Both countries are Sponsoring Partners of GWP, and Weber-Fahr’s visits strengthened a close working relationship with the countries.
A second Public Consultation on the Sevan Basin Management Plan was held in Armenia from June 11 to 17 July, 2020. The consultation was organised on the programme of measures for Sevan and Hrazdan river basins districts. This is part of the River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) developed for Sevan and Hrazdan river basins within EUWI+.
The 2021 edition of the European Development Days (EDD21) will take place on 15-16 June. The event is fully digital, and the theme is "The Green Deal for a Sustainable Future". On the first day, the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, which GWP coordinates in partnership with UNEP, UNEP-DHI Centre and Cap-Net UNDP, will be featured in a session on "Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) to accelerate progress on the SDGs". The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) will be launching its Strategy for 2020 – 2025 themed “Mobilizing Investments for A Water Secure Southern Africa”, to its partners in Pretoria, South Africa. The Strategy, to be launched at a meeting to mobilize investments for a water secure southern African region, will guide how GWPSA will focus its work between 2020 and 2025 in line with the GWPO Global Strategy.
The Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Sri Lanka - as the National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) - nominated GWP as the delivery partner for National Designated Authority (NDA) Readiness for 2020 under the GCF Readiness Programme.
