Mali CWP had discussions with various stakeholders including dyers, artisanal and industrial tanners, slaughterhouses, market gardeners, gravel and sand extractors, gold panners and fishermen, technical services, the University, NGOs and the media for a better wastewater management in order to improve water quality in the Niger River.
The Country Water Partnership of Mali (CWP-Mali) held its 7th Ordinary General Assembly on Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Bamako. The discussions focused on the difficulties in mobilizing funds to finance activities, organizational problems, etc.
GWP WA is a member of the UNEP-DHI/GWP-WA consortium in charge of the mission to support the establishment of the ECOWAS Regional Water Observatory. A workshop was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on 4 & 5 September 2018 with country focal points on data collection.
On Thursday, August 09, 2018, the chair of GWP-WA, Professor Amadou Hama MAIGA exchanged with the Executive Secretariat staff on about the subjects and actions underway at GWP-WA and the prospects.
There were two youth associations competing to be the implementing partner of the project on the ground. Competing for this project were the "Koom La Viim" association (which means "Water is life") of Nomgana / rural municipality of Loumbila and the "Nongtaaba/Jeune La Touma" association (which means "youth is work") of Koankin in the rural municipality of Saponé.
The CWP Gambia team including the chair, executive Secretary and IWRM Focal point met with the Director General of the Gambia Radio and Television Service in his office on Wednesday 1st of August 2018 to brief him on GCWP activities, GWP, GWPWA and status of IWRM in the Gambia. Plan programmes and constraints were also highlighted.
From 25 to 26 August 2018, the global meeting of the Advisory Committee and the Management Committee of the Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) took place at the GWP offices in Stockholm.
The new chair of CWP Ivory Coast, Dr. KOFFI Ehui Bruno is paying courtesy visits to all CWP partner organizations to introduce the new CWP management team, the new vision assigned to the promotion of IWRM at the national level, the formalization of the membership of certain structures, request for new partnerships.
On September 27 and 28, 2018, the 2018 GWP Network Meeting- ‘Follow the Sun’-was jointly organised by the GWP Regional Water Partnerships (RWP) to enable the network partners from 86 countries to connect and contribute to the GWP new strategy 2020-2025.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Simone Lewis, as its new Regional Coordinator. Ms. Lewis who is from Grenada, will assume office on October 1st, 2018.
