The Organization for the development of the Senegal River (OMVS) organized in Conakry its second Days on 10 and 11 March 2019. The Executive Secretary of the CWP, Hafiziou BARRY took part in the celebrations.

Michèle Okala coordinates the work of RECOJAC – the Network of Water and Climate Organisations of Central African Youth. She is one of the founding members and she is also in charge of youth issues for GWP Central Africa. Michèle has been volunteering for over 8 years, and she shares some insights to what she has learned – and what she hopes to leave as her legacy: “I created RECOJAC for the generation that will come after me. I am only laying the foundation.”
GWP West Africa, International Secretariat for Water (ISW), the CWPs of Burkina and Benin and the NGO Eau Vive in Togo are organizing the inception workshop of the youth project known as “Tonfuturtonclimat” focusing on three pilot projects (one in each country, Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo) on climate related activity for youth and gender aspects. The Ouagadougou workshop will gather some youth organizations, officials and the partners of the project to discuss and come out with recommendations on how to better coordinate and implement the project activities.
A consultation meeting on Learning Deltas Asia Initiatives (LDAI), an Inter-Regional Collaboration between Global Water Partnership (GWP) South Asia and South East Asia was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 26 to 28 February 2017 with the participation of delegations of Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Hanoi, 22 March 2019 -- In the Southeast Asia region, prone to many disasters such as cyclones, floods and droughts, many efforts are being made to build capacity, influence policies and develop strategies to better equip member states to prevent and address disaster. Given the need and importance of paying attention to water-related disasters, the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP), drafted ‘principles on investment and financing for water related disaster risk reduction’, which was launched during the 8th World Water Forum in Brazil. Building on a cooperation between the Global Water Partnership (GWP), the HELP and Japanese government, a session on DRR is organized with the main objective to consult on investment and financing for water related-disaster risk reduction principles. This consultation was organized as part of Viet Nam wAter Cooperation Initiative (VACI) 2019 as this initiative is closely related to the VACI’s objectives, which was designed to share and co-create innovative water solution with emphasis on Vietnam and tropical water issues. “Connection leads to protection because when you feel connected to something, you feel a responsibility to care for and protect it,” says Stephanie Woodworth as she reflects on her experiences over the past few years – from winning the 2016-2017 edition of the Great Waters Challenge, to working on a number of water-related youth projects and finding her motivation to reach her goal of connecting people to water, especially the younger generation.
