A West African delegation of 10 participants from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and the regional level have taken part into the Green Climate Fund (GCF) workshop in South Africa on the financing of water-related projects. Their participation was made possible through the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) to this meeting from 19 to 21 September 2018.
The Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean is seeking to hire a Senior Programme Officer. The successful candidate will be hired by MIO-ECSDE, a civil non-profit society based in Greece, in its capacity as Host Institute for GWP-Med.
GWP Central America holds a photography contest every year to engage partners, youth and other actors around water issues. The winner of the contest this year is Francisco Gil from Panama, who says that “youth is the main pillar for the conservation of our water resources”. The photograph was taken in Chiguiri Arriba in the province of Coclé.
In May 2019, at the invitation of the Chairs of the “National Focal Structures” for Cameroon and Congo, GWP CAf participated in the national stakeholder workshop to present and discuss the multi-sectoral diagnostic report in Congo (23rd – 24th May) and in Cameroon (27th – 28th May) in Brazzaville and Yaoundé respectively.
International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year. For 2018, the UN’s theme is: “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women's life.”
On the eve of celebrating, we decided to ask women in the GWP CACENA network a question: "Time is now for equality in water access and management! How can activism empower #WaterWomen?"
GWP staff from around the world gather once a year to discuss current issues and plan for the future. This year's meeting takes place in Amman, Jordan, on 13-16 May. The main focus will be around the GWP Strategy 2020-2025.
World Water Day is an annual observance day on 22 March to highlight the importance of the world’s water resources. For GWP, this an important day to be an 'ambassador for water' and the network participates in celebrations around the world in various ways. Here are some of the highlights of 2018.
A regional GWP delegation led by the chair, Prof. Amadou Hama MAIGA and including the Executive Secretary, Mr Armand HOUANYE and the communication and knowledge manager, Sidi COULIBALY, visited Guinea from 25 February to 1st March 2018.
