Mali, discussions with target groups for better wastewater management

Mali CWP had discussions with various stakeholders including dyers, artisanal and industrial tanners, slaughterhouses, market gardeners, gravel and sand extractors, gold panners and fishermen, technical services, the University, NGOs and the media for a better wastewater management in order to improve water quality in the Niger River.

Budapest Water Summit 2019 took place on 15-17 October, and GWP took the opportunity to ask youth about their experience with GWP. Joanna O’Keefe from Poland said that GWP introduced her to a completely new world: “I knew scientific conferences, but now I also get involved with policy making events and political events.”

GWP WA Chair and Executive Secretary meet authorities and partners in Niger

The Chair, Executive Secretary and Communication and Knowledge Management Officer of GWP-WA paid a support visit to the Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Niger from 09 to 14 April 2018. The purpose of the visit was to provide support to the Niger CWP for greater visibility among the authorities and strategic partners in the country in order to accompany it in carrying out its missions. The delegation accompanied by the CWP had meetings with authorities and some strategic partners.

Pan African Institutions Strategise on Measures to Accelerate Infrastructure Delivery on the Continent

In an effort to scale up implementation of infrastructure, the NEPAD Agency, supported by the African Development Bank, the Regional Economic Communities and other stakeholders met in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, with the objectives of crafting measures to enhance the role out of infrastructure as well as enhance access to infrastructure financing through institutional investors as well as the private sector.

The GWP CAf held its 12th Steering Committee

Held from October 3 to 4, 2018, this Steering Committee brought together the presidents of the 5 PNEs of the Central African sub-region (Cameroon, Congo, CAR, Chad and Sao Tome and Principe), a representative of the GWPO, a member of the Scientific and Technical Committee (STC), and the other members of the Steering Committee who are representatives of the Association of Journalists for Climate of the Republic of Congo, LCBC (Lake Chad Basin Commission), RECOJAC, WWF Cameroon and the President of AMCOW TAC in Central Africa, special guest.
