The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. GWP and UNICEF have been collaborating since 2014 on the development of a Strategic Framework for WASH Climate Resilient Development with a series of knowledge products to support the implementation of the Framework at regional, national, watershed and local level. Another two publications were launched at Stockholm World Water Week 2017.

The Slovak Drought Action Plan that includes preventive measures in a number of areas, specifically agriculture and forestry, urban landscape, water management, research and environmental education, is expected to be approved in Spring 2018.

A one-day meeting of the ECOWAS Regional Water Observation and Information System with contact persons representing key institution/organization was held at INTIS Royal Suite, Abuja on 23rd October. 2018.

Within the framework of the "Young Professionals" Programme implemented by the GWP-CAf in collaboration with the Network of Young Central African Organisations (RECOJAC), young interns are recruited from the GWP-CAf Secretariat and the Central African CWPs.

The SADC-GiZ TWM activities on Stakeholder Engagement and Participation support the RSAP IV’s Programme 3.2 that falls under Programme 3: Gender Mainstreaming, Youth and Stakeholder Engagement.

The regional comity of the global coordination mechanism of the Mékrou Project held in Ouagadougou on 25 and 26 September 2017 under the patronage of the Minister of Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso, represented by the Technical Adviser, Mr. Habdoulaye KOUDAKIDIGA.

The IDMP project manager together with CWP Burkina and some GWP WA staff have visited the pilot project site wher innovating practices of resilience to drought are promoted in Komki Ipala. The visitors were much satisfied with results achieved by the pilot project which initiated various techniques of restoration of degraded lands to produce grass for animal feeding through natural assisted regeneration. These technics are mastered by the populations involved in the project. To show their mastery they are testing a long time abandoned land to grow some crops.

Situated in Eastern Europe, Estonia is bordering the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland, between Latvia and Russia. Offshore, there are more than 1,500 islands belonging to Estonia. It has a maritime climate with wet moderate winters and cool summers. Important natural resources of Estonia include oil shale, peat, arable land and sea mud.

Gender mainstreaming is about identifying gender gaps and making the concerns and priorities of women’s, men’s, girls’ and boys’ integral to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes so that developmental benefits are relevant, and are shared equally.
