The Panama chapter of the Central American Water Youth Network held its 2nd national youth conference in Chirquí, June 2 and 3, with the support of GWP and other organisations.

Under the Strategic Goal 1 Catalyze Change, the WACDEP Programme of GWP China Region stresses cross-regional cooperation, sector plan optimization, investment on recycling renewable resources, south-south promotion and a good lesson of utilizing the water rights market.

The implementation process of national and regional platforms on the Integrated Management of Drought is ongoing. Thus the regional core group as well as the national core group of Niger held their first meeting of 2016 respectively on Wednesday, June 15 in Ouagadougou and Wednesday 22 June in Niamey.

Tajikistan hosted the second regional consultation on Valuing Water – a global process to assist the work of the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW). GWP is evaluating the role of knowledge within its Technical Committee (TEC). Selected forward thinkers and headquarter staff gathered for a 2-day collaborative workshop in Athens, Greece, on 4-5 September, to explore how GWP can access and apply the knowledge of the network. The big question was: How can we increase impact as well as stakeholder and user benefit? Ahead of the workshop, TEC Chair Jerome Delli Priscoli shared his thoughts on where TEC is going.

The 3rd Consultation Workshop on enhancing the potential for Private Sector Participation in Water Infrastructure in Lebanon, with emphasis on the role of Banks was organised in Beirut on the 8th November 2017, as part of the National Policy Dialogue on Water Governance and Financing. The Workshop involved more than 25 targeted representatives of relevant public institutions, private banks, regional organisations and NGOs.

Since 2013, GWPEA has been organizing annual regional media workshops aimed at building the capacity of media practitioners in IWRM and sensitizing them on their crucial role in covering water, climate and drought related topics.
