Global Water Partnership (GWP) Africa teamed-up with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), under the implementation of the National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) to lead the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Regional Training Workshop for Asia on “Mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation into Water Resources”.

A national workshop on the appropriation of the dialogue NEXUS Water-Energy- Food Security was organized on 02 and 03 May 2018 by the National Coordination of Users of the Niger basin (CNU). The CWP-MALI was represented by its chair, Mr Sylla Mamadou.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. The Ministry of Water Resources of China has introduced a Master Programme for Water Professionals, that is currently being implemented by the Chinese government.

The scientific conference on River basin management and hydrological events will take place on 10-11 October in Vyhne, Slovakia.

GWP has leveraged its stakeholder network to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reporting process in 30 countries. Together with UN Environment-DHI, the custodian agency of SDG 6.5.1, GWP is convening 30 workshops to collect the official country data for 6.5.1. (Integrated Water Resources Management, IWRM).

The IWRM ToolBox is an online database about integrated water resources management (IWRM). With the launch of the new GWP website in March, the ToolBox became an integrated part of the website (“LEARN”). We present new tutorials to assist both new and returning visitors.

On January 31, 2018, the Chair of Global Water Partnership (GWP) visited the Ministry of Water Resources of China (MWR) in Beijing, China to promote a closer relationship between two parties.

The SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme (SDG 6-SP) assists governments in designing and implementing country-led responses to SDG indicator 6.5.1—the degree of implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)—as an entry point to accelerate progress towards the achievement of water-related SDGs and other development goals, in line with national priorities.
