#Tonfuturtonclimat, launching workshop in Ouagadougou, 28 and 29 November:

GWP West Africa, International Secretariat for Water (ISW), the CWPs of Burkina and Benin and the NGO Eau Vive in Togo are organizing the inception workshop of the youth project known as “Tonfuturtonclimat” focusing on three pilot projects (one in each country, Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo) on climate related activity for youth and gender aspects. The Ouagadougou workshop will gather some youth organizations, officials and the partners of the project to discuss and come out with recommendations on how to better coordinate and implement the project activities.

Monitoring and Evaluation

A key challenge for policy and advocacy organisations like GWP is demonstrating direct attribution between its work and the outcomes and impact that this work was designed to influence. To better describe and understand this attribution gap, GWP has in place a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system that consists of a hybrid of two methodologies; outcome mapping and traditional results-based management.

The Global Conference for Prosperity through Hydrological Services

The HydroConference seeks to create better interfaces between the providers of hydrological services and the users who need such services for a wide range of decision-making in order to generate increased benefits for society. It will be held 7-9 May in Geneva, Switzerland.

Regional Water Integrity workshop held

The Water Integrity Network (WIN) organized a one-day regional meeting in the premises of GWP WA on 22 February. It has been some ten years since WIN started its activities in West Africa in collaboration with GWP-WA, VBA, ECOWAS/WRCC and countries among others.

Mali CWP holds extraordinary partners’ meeting

The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Mali held an extraordinary meeting of its partners on 27 January 2018 to review its basic texts (Statutes and regulations). The main changes are that the permanent secretary who was elected is now giving place to a recruited Executive secretary and is heading a secretariat that may include recruited personnel for projects and programmes.

Mékrou Project: working to implement the Framework agreement

A GWP delegation including the Coordinator, the Project manager and by the chair met with the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) Executive Secretary and some her colleagues on May 10, 2016. The discussions focused on how to start the implementation of the framework agreement for the promotion of political dialogue in the Mékrou tranboundary river basin signed in December 2015 by the three countries. To start with it was sugggested that the issue be included in the agenda of the next NBA council of ministers.
