GWP and its partners launched the Partnership for the Preparation of Water Projects Resilient to Climate Change in Africa at a workshop in Johannesburg from 19 to 21 September 2018.
March 22 marks World Water Day 2017. This year’s theme is wastewater. GWP has published two blogs about the theme, and conducted a Facebook Live interview with Rami Abdel Rahman of the Sweden Textile Water Initiative. Around the GWP Network, various celebrations are taking place. However, the main GWP celebration this year concerns the very website you are currently on – the launch of a completely new www.gwp.org.
8 March marks International Women’s Day (IWD). The global theme this year is “Planet 50-50: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. It asks governments to make commitments to address the challenges that are holding women and girls back from reaching their full potential.

The workshop to kick-off the regional Programme on advancing investment for Food and Nutrition Security (FNS)– in Water - Energy – Food – Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus in West Africa was held in Bamako, Mali from 11 to 13 December 2017.
A Gambia CWP team including the Chairperson, the Executive Secretary, the National IWRM Focal point and the GWP-WA Technical Committee member met with the Hon. Minister of Water Resources, James Furmos Peter Gomez and his Permanent Secretary (PS), Dr. Bamba Banja on July 7th in the minister’s office in Banjul.
To support its partners and CWPs in their work, GWP CAf is recruiting a Regional Communications and Knowledge Management Officer to be based at the GWP-CAf regional secretariat in Yaoundé. Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of GWP-CAf Regional Secretariat, the Regional Communications and Knowledge Management Officer will be responsible for ensuring the visibility of GWP-CAf actions and activities at different levels, as well as the organization and coordination of knowledge generated by the GWP-CAf and its partners.
From 20-24 November 2017, CWP-Benin represented by Rachel ARAYE took part in the Sharing Skills Seminar organized by the VIA WATER programme in Ghana. This seminar was hosted by the ISGC (International Student Guest Centre) and attended by 26 innovative project leaders on water, sanitation and agriculture issues from seven (7) countries: Benin, Mali, Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya, Mozambique and India.
The Integrated Drought Management Project (IDMP) manager, Ms Félicité Vodounhessi made a follow up mission in Niger where she visited the Torodi pilot project beneficiaries. This project involves the development of the irrigated crop site for the women in the village of Kankantouti.
