The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Mali held an extraordinary meeting of its partners on 27 January 2018 to review its basic texts (Statutes and regulations). The main changes are that the permanent secretary who was elected is now giving place to a recruited Executive secretary and is heading a secretariat that may include recruited personnel for projects and programmes.
GWP’s “Follow-the-Sun” Network Meeting concluded, after 29 hours, on Friday 28 September. The meeting, which was held in 15 consecutive multi-point video conference sessions over two days, engaged over 400 Partners across the world, in nearly 50 countries. The main aim was to seek insight for GWP’s Strategy development, in addition to statutory tasks. “We have a powerful story”, said GWP Executive Secretary Monika Weber-Fahr in her concluding remarks.
The chair of CWP Guinea, Mamadou Alpha Hann together with the vice chair and executive secretary had an information meeting with the NGOs partners of the CWP on 26 May 2018.
The Executive Secretary of the Country Water Partnership of Mali took part in the validation workshop of the diagnostic report of the Local Water Committees (CLE) and IWRM stakeholders on 11 June.
GWP held its annual Regional Days meeting on 23-25 May in Budapest, Hungary. This was followed by meetings of the GWP Steering Committee, Financing Partners Group, and Sponsoring Partners in Stockholm, Sweden on 11-14 June. All meetings were focused on launching the process for developing GWP’s new strategy.
“Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality” is the global theme for International Women’s Day 2017. It asks governments to make national commitments to address the challenges that are holding women and girls back from reaching their full potential.
2015, with the adoption of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Climate Agreement, was a year of key commitments to sustainable development by governments, civil society, and the private sector.

Palitha Range Bandara, the State Minister of Irrigation and Water Resource Management at a special side event on Water and Disaster Risk Reduction in Asia at the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) 2018.
