Guinea partners to give new dynamism to CWP

Partners of the Guinea Country Water Partnership are actively for ways to reactivate the CWP. Following up on the recommendations of the regional Assembly of Partners of September 2017 inviting the CWP to meet criteria of accreditation and improve the internal governance of the network, the partners have organized two meetings to discuss ways and means to revitalize the CWP.

Monitoring and Evaluation

A key challenge for policy and advocacy organisations like GWP is demonstrating direct attribution between its work and the outcomes and impact that this work was designed to influence. To better describe and understand this attribution gap, GWP has in place a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system that consists of a hybrid of two methodologies; outcome mapping and traditional results-based management.

Mono Basin sets up its CSO Platform ( POSC MONO)

The Constitutive General Assembly of the Platform of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of the Mono Basin was held on Friday 8 December 2017 in Lomé, Togo. It brought together CSO delegates from Benin and Togo with the support of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), through the Partnership for Environmental Governance Programme (PAGE).

Second Consultation Meeting on Learning Deltas Asia Initiative

The second Country Consultation Meeting between Bangladesh and Myanmar under Learning Deltas Asia Initiative (LDAI) was held at Irrigation and Water Utilisation Management Department (IWUMD) Conference Hall, Yangon from 1 to 4 June 2017 together with a field visit to Ayeyarwady Delta in Myanmar.

The investment potential in wastewater treatment and reuse in Middle East & North Africa (MENA) was discussed at a session organised by the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) during the recent World Water Week in Stockholm (27 August – 1 September 2017). This was part of the “MENA Focus” set of 4 sessions, led by key institutions in the Region.2017 was the 2nd year that a dedicated MENA Regional Focus was part of the World Water Weeks’ programme, alongside the Regional Focus Days for Africa, Asia and Latin America. In addition to the (co) organization of sessions, GWP-Med is coordinating the overall “MENA Focus”.

A new chair for CWP CAR

With the resumption of activities in Bangui and to facilitate the implementation of WACDEP in the country, the Country Water Partnership of the Central African Republic convene its statutory meetings, the Assembly of Partners and the Steering Committee on 17 August 2017 and 18 August. This CWP was set up in 2008 but remained relatively inactive due to the troubles the country has been facing. A new Steering Committee was put in place, and Mr. YAKENDE Rodrigue Prosper was elected as the new chair.
