GEF/UNDP/GWP-Med project 'Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the extended Drin River Basin' (GEF Drin Project) is making forces to raise public awareness about the natural wealth and legacy of the Drin River Basin on the occasion of Drin Day 2018.

The network has been set up and the focal points installed. The charter and statutes of the network have been validated.

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) together with the International Authority on Development (IGAD), the Africa Network on Basin Organizations (ANBO), UNECE, Makerere University and other partners organized a regional training on Water Governance and International Water Law for Trans-boundary Water Management in Africa in Entebbe, Uganda from 05-07 June 2017.

The workshop to launch the activities of the project "Ecosystem Conservation and International Water Resources Management of the Mano River Union" was held on 20 March 2018 in Abidjan, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Water and Forestry, represented by Colonel Yamani SORO, Director General of Water and Forestry.

The 6th Drin Stakeholders Conference was organized on 14-15 November 2018, in Ohrid.

The Burkina Faso Water Partnership (CWP-BF) organized the first edition of the Water and Sanitation Trophies on Friday, December 2, 2016 in Ouagadougou. The purpose of the event was to magnify, encourage and give visibility to the men and women who have distinguished themselves in the field of water and sanitation. The ceremony was held under the patronage of the former minister of water and current president of the National Assembly, Salifou Diallo, under the presidency of Ambroise Niouga OUEDRAOGO, Minister of Water and Sanitation and the co-sponsorship of Mats HÅRSMAR Chargé d'affaires at the Swedish Embassy in Burkina Faso and Mr. Cheick Fantamady KANTE, Country Representative of the World Bank in Burkina Faso.

Held from October 3 to 4, 2018, this Steering Committee brought together the presidents of the 5 PNEs of the Central African sub-region (Cameroon, Congo, CAR, Chad and Sao Tome and Principe), a representative of the GWPO, a member of the Scientific and Technical Committee (STC), and the other members of the Steering Committee who are representatives of the Association of Journalists for Climate of the Republic of Congo, LCBC (Lake Chad Basin Commission), RECOJAC, WWF Cameroon and the President of AMCOW TAC in Central Africa, special guest.

Across India, the magnitude and intensity of extreme weather events like drought and floods is increasing. Such changes in climatic conditions affect a myriad of issues of which, access to water for drinking and domestic purposes and for agriculture affect farmer communities in South India the most, as majority of Indian farmers are dependent on rain fed agriculture.

Dali, 20 December 2018 -- Taking place back to back with the Workshop on Flood Control and Drought Relief Technology of Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation that was held between 17-20 December, the 2 days workshop provided the participants with a basic skills on carried out a shared vision planning to support the development of joint proposal development for Lancang-Mekong River Basin. The biennial event gathers stakeholders from the global water industry to share best practices, showcase the latest technologies and tap business opportunities. SIWW is part of the strategic programme of the Singapore Government to grow the water industry and develop water technologies.

 

These events was organized by Singapore International Water Week Pte Ltd, a company set up by Singapore's Ministry of the Environment & Water Resources and PUB, Singapore’s national water agency. The 7th Singapore International Water Week held in conjunction with the 5th World Cities Summit and the 3rd CleanEnviro Summit Singapore, from 10 – 14 July 2016 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
