“Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”

On 8 March 2019: International Women’s Day falls on 8 March with this year’s theme “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change” which focuses on innovative ways in which individuals can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of access to public services, social protection systems and sustainable infrastructure. Transformations, integrated approaches and new solutions are necessary particularly for advancing gender equality and empowering women on the journey to achieve the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In other words, “business as usual” will not be sufficient and should put forward innovative approaches that removes structural barriers and ensures no woman and no girl is left behind.

Water Investments Transaction Management

The AIP will support Member States to access transaction management services to assure impactful in-vestments in both infrastructure and nature management solutions for assuring water security; and improve-ments in sanitation and hygiene services delivery.

Global Water Partnership Tanzania appointed to a National Task Force

Tanzania’s Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MoWI) has appointed Global Water Partnership Tanzania to a National Public Private Partnership (PPP) Task Force whose mandate is to deliver a national action plan for promoting and realizing an enhanced engagement of the private sector in the larger water sector. Submission and presentation of the action plan will be before end of November 2018.

GWP China Host Institution Celebrates 60 Years

GWP China’s host institution, the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), celebrated its 60th anniversary with a week of academic sessions in Beijing, China. On 18 October, an international high-level forum was held on the topic of Modern Water Governance and Technological Innovation. Around 1000 guests were invited, including GWP representatives from its worldwide network.

GWP Provides Expertise to WMO HydroConference

GWP co-organised the recent World Meteorological Organization (WMO) HydroConference – the Global Conference for Prosperity through Hydrological Services – in Geneva, Switzerland. The event set out to create better interfaces between the providers of hydrological services and the users who need such services for a wide range of decision-making.
