On the occasion of its 15th Anniversary and the launching of the SDG Water Preparedness Facility Program in Hungary, GWP Hungary invited partners, donors, collaborators and supporters to an Anniversary meeting, which was held on the 20th of November 2017 in Budapest.

Through the implementation of its strategy, GWP supports water security and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) via strengthened governance and management of water resources. This is pursued by promoting Integrated Water Resources Management, a cross-sectoral approach, designed to replace the traditional, fragmented sectoral approach that has led to poor services and unsustainable resource use.

GWP has supported the consultation process of francophone youth from 21 countries in the creation of a White Paper, which expresses the role of youth in the management of water in the context of climate change. The paper was presented at COP21 in Paris last year. GWP Central America and partners have now launched a contest for youth based on the recommendations of the White Paper.

 

The 32^nd SC Meeting of GWP Southeast Asia was held in Singapore on 10 July 2016 before the Singapore Water Week and GWP PAN Asia Workshop.

 

9 Steering Committee Member from 9 countries in Southeast Asia gathered at the Marina Barrage, Singapore to discuss the program and plan for the 2016 and 2017. The plan of 2017 for core budget work plan has not been decided yet but 2 alternatives has been prepared and proposed for the countries.

 

GWPEA strives to address water and climate related challenges through a particular approach that combines a number of activities

On the occasion of the 2017 International Women’s Day, and drawing on the global theme for this year: Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality, GWP-Med has asked women water champions from the Mediterranean water community to reflect on: How can the water sector step it up for gender equality?

Dr. Nicole Bernex is a Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and a Member of the GWP Technical Committee. She has been active in the GWP network for many years, the past ten of them through GWP Peru. When asked to talk about a topic close to her heart, Dr. Bernex chooses a project that GWP has been running successfully in Peru for the past two years, the Santa Eulalia Water, Climate and Development Programme.
