Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) is pleased to announce that Mr. Konstantin Ivanov has been selected as the new Regional Coordinator for Central and Eastern Europe. His appointment is effective from 1 March 2019.

On 10 October in Slovenia a National Consultation Dialogue on Drought took place for a third time. The event was organised by the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) and Global Water Partnership Slovenia in the framework of the Integrated Drought Management Programme in Central and Eastern Europe (IDMP CEE). 

March 22 is World Water Day (WWD) named by the United Nations in 1993 to highlight the challenges associated with precious resource.

In April 2016, Alice Bouman-Dentener was decorated by King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands as Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau. This is a civil and military Dutch order of chivalry open to everyone who has earned special merits through longstanding and exemplary contributions to society, both public and private. 

More than 140 decision makers and representatives of government, civil society, international organisations, donors, financing institutions, and the private and banking sector, came together for 3 days sharing experiences and discussing needs, challenges and next steps during the “Conference on Water Governance in MENA and wider Mediterranean region” that was held in Barcelona, on 12-14 December. The Regional Conference was organised under the auspices of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), by two UfM-labelled projects supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), namely the Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector project led by GWP-Med, and the Regional Water Integrity Capacity Building Programme in MENA, led by SIWI UNDP Water Governance Facility. The Conference was organised in close and strategic synergy with the EU-funded Sustainable Water Integrated Management and Horizon 2020 Support Mechanism (SWIM-H2020 SM) regional project.

A two-day WACDEP workshop was held on 19-20 February 2018 in Ouagadougou to facilitate the implementation process of the Programme to achieve the expected results at regional level and in the beneficiary countries.

GWPEA Guiding Principles and Objectives

The Nature Conservancy is looking for a Water Fund and Watershed Conservation Manager.

Several partners among which the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate of Zimbabwe and the Municipality of Marondera have come together to help Zimbabwe develop an Integrated Water and Wastewater Master Plan that will, in part, present detailed prioritized investments for the municipality of Marondera, financed by the African Water Facility. This project will also build the capacity of the key sector players, which will in the long term foster an integrated approach in managing the water and sanitation facilities in the country.

The 6th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region entitled ‘A secure, connected and prospering Danube Region’ took place on 18-19 October 2017 in Budapest and was jointly organised by Hungary, the European Commission and the Danube Transnational Programme.
