A trained session was organized on 21 and 23 November 2016 by the Country Water Partnership of Benin to strengthen the capacity of its staff and some representatives of the CWP bodies on procurement issues in Benin.

Mina Guli is CEO of Thirst and a member of the GWP Steering Committee. In November she will embark on a mission to complete 100 marathons in 100 days – with the single goal of raising awareness around the global water crisis. The International Secretariat for Water (ISW), Eau Vive International in collaboration with GWP WA and other partners have organized a training on the topic “New ideas for a better sharing of resources”.

The 22nd Regional Council (RC) Meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) and the Regional Workshop on Rapid Country Level Analysis were held back-to-back from 29-30 September and on 28 September 2016 respectively in Kathmandu, Nepal.

GWP Central and Eastern Europe successfully completed a project on innovative wastewater treatment, developed in cooperation with IRIDRA and the Water Science Institute in Slovenia. The project was supported by the EU Joint Research Centre and was implemented in Kamniška Bistrica River Basin Slovenia during the years 2016-2017.

GWP Vice Chair and member of the Steering Committee, Drs. Alice Bouman-Dentener participated in the High-Level Symposium on SDG 6 and Targets in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 9-11 August.

Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren is the appointed Chair of GWP, effective July 1, 2016. Dr. Oyun is a former Member of Parliament of Mongolia, former Minister of Environment and Green Development, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. She currently serves as President of the United Nations Environment Assembly of UNEP.

The capacity building workshop of GWP China Provincial and River Basin Secretariats will be organized on March 27-28, 2017, in Yunnan Province, China.
