Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) in collaboration with the Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Burkina Faso and the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) organized a regional workshop for journalists from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Togo from 20 to 22 November 2018.
With the support of the GWP, the Water and Climate Network of Central African Youth Organisations (RECOJAC) was able to take part in the 7th edition of the African Water Week, which was held from the 29th of October to the 02nd of November 2018 in Gabon.
On December 17-20, 2018, stakeholders from the Lancang-Mekong river basin countries shared their lessons of natural disasters control and future vision on joint programmes regarding the sustainable river development in Dali, Yunnan Province.
With over 54 shared river basins in Africa, cooperation in the management and development of transboundary water resources is a key building block towards regional and economic integration. However, the pace of investment in transboundary water projects in Africa remains very slow hampering progress towards the continent’s economic growth aspirations and 2030 SDG targets.
In the period 2017-2020 Country Water Partnership-Armenia as a partner together with Urban Foundation for Sustainable Development and Yerevan State University Environmental Law Resource Centre undertook the implementation of USAID-funded “Participatory Utilization of Resource Efficiency of Water” Project/ PURE Water Project.
GWP Cameroon and UNICEF signed a collaboration agreement on 23 March 2017 to implement the project "Improving the resilience of WASH services in the Mayo Tsanaga sub-basin through pilot initiatives".
The 13th Steering Committee and the 6th General Assembly of GWP-CAf took place in Douala, Cameroon from the 30th of October to the 1st of November 2019 and brought together some 25 participants from Central African’s CWPs and representatives of the member organizations of the statutory bodies.
During the month of May, ten workshops were held in the different regions of Honduras to raise awareness on the steps taken by the government to prepare for the implementation of SDG 6 in the country, as well as to promote that the Goal is included in local and territorial planning. They were also an opportunity to share information on GWP's campaign #ActOnSDG6.
