South Africa started its internal broad stakeholder engagement process on Water in the Post 2015 Development Agenda earlier this year. The first stakeholder workshop was held in Durban from 19-20 February 2013. A second workshop, was held in Irene, Gauteng on 4^th April 2013.

The one day stakeholder consultation on water was held at the Hotel VIP in Maputo, Mozambique on 15^th April 2013. The meeting was attended by 23 stakeholders from key government water ministries, departments, authorities, the private sector (WASH), academia, and international organisations.

Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWPEA) has called on Rwanda and Burundi to collaborate in various ways for effective implementation of the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP).

The Zimbabwe Water Partnership (ZWP) was formed in May 2000. The Partnership is operating under the vision promoting a “Water Secure Zimbabwe through application of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) Principles”, and its’ mission is to support sustainable development and management of water resources at all levels in the country.

The Swaziland Country Water Partnership (SZCWP) was launched in 2004 to support the IWRM Plan development (2008) and more generally to provide a platform for stakeholder driven water management.

The Malawi Water Partnership is a body that is made up of Partners in Malawi that are duly registered with the Global Water Partnership Organisation (GWPO) as GWP Partners. It is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, non-political, human rights-based and gender-oriented network of institutions and organisations in Malawi. Malawi Water Partnership was accredited to GWPO in 2023 as GWP Malawi.

The DRC Country Water Partnership (DRC-CWP) was established in November 2004. The Partnership was established to assist government and other actors        to promote Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) principles in the water sector and related sectors. The Partnership is hosted by The National Committee of Water and Sanitation.

The Tanzania Water Partnership (TWP) was launched in Feb 2004 as the 8^th CWP in the Southern African Sub Region. After its launch, the CWP addressed the needs of the 2002 Water Policy, and deliberated on strategies that could assist the government in the implementation of the Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) Institutional Setup.  Read more on the background of the TWP.

Recent floods across Central Europe have affected thousands of people, driving them from their homes. The Elbe, the Danube, the Vltava, and other rivers have overflowed their banks after several weeks of heavy rain. The floods caused extensive damage in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Slovakia.
