Four Southern African Development Community (SADC) Member States have commended the SADC Secretariat for taking the lead in the fight against communicable diseases, including COVID-19 and cholera, through the installation of handwashing facilities at border crossings.
A GWP-WA regional Secretariat undertook a monitoring mission from 09 to 13 July 2022. The objective of this mission was to monitor the implementation of the TFTC2 Project activities in Togo.
GWP-Med is leading the communication and dissemination component in this new H2020 project which aims to close the gap between science and policy in natural resources management. The REXUS project is bringing the Water-Energy-Food Nexus concept to an operational level as a tool for analysis, planning and decision-making, through an innovative integrated approach applied in 5 pilot sites across Europe and Latin America.
Co-led by the UfM Secretariat, AECID, PRIMA, GWP-Med and CAWTAR, the Initiative on Gendering the WEFE Nexus in the Mediterranean highlights the significant role women play in managing water, energy, and food resources and the need for a gender-transformative approach in policy and governance frameworks.
Four SADC Oceanic States of Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles are collaborating to develop a Water, Energy, Food & Ecosystem (WEFE) Security Nexus Regional Programme that promotes a multi-sector approach in ensuring natural resource use efficiency, whilst achieving water, energy, and food security.
GWP-Med is leading communication and dissemination efforts in the Horizon 2020 REXUS project, which is employing participatory processes to engage stakeholders in framing WEFE Nexus challenges and jointly developing actionable solutions.
The regional project manager #YourFutureYourClimate (TonFuturTonClimat) and the communication officer made field visits to Togo and Benin to monitor the implementation of this project funded by the Government of Quebec, GWP, ISW and its partners. It is implemented in the countries by CWP Benin, CWP Burkina and the NGO YVE in Togo under the regional coordination of GWP-WA and ISW.
On September 6, 2024, the Global Water Partnership China (GWP China) hosted the "Research Conference on Energy Transition and Water Resources Management in Water-scarce Areas of China" at the Yingze Hotel in Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi Province.
