Drin Day 2019

GEF/UNDP/GWP-Med project 'Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the extended Drin River Basin' (GEF Drin Project) is making efforts to raise public awareness about the natural wealth and cultural heritage of the Drin River Basin through the celebration of Drin Day 2019.

The 6th celebration of the Drin Day, aiming to inspire collective and transboundary actions towards protecting the Drin River Basin and its freshwater ecosystems, is organized under the auspices of the Drin Coordinated Action on the 5th of May 2019. This year, the focus is plastic pollution. In this regard, we encourage the preparation and submission of proposals from groups of NGOs’; activities should focus, geographically, to a single sub-basin. NGOs/CSOs providing transboundary activities proposals will be supported by the GEF Drin Project to organize events for the Drin Day 2019!

You are invited to submit your application to receive support describing the events you wish to organize. An amount of max. $6,000 (at least half of it for promotional/printing costs) is available as seed funding to support each selected organization.

NGOs will be selected based on their proposals for the transboundary celebration of the Drin Day on the basin or sub-basin level.

You are kindly invited to read carefully the attached (Terms of Reference) and submit your proposal (Application Form) to the GWP-Med Secretariat by 27 March 2019. Successful applicants will be notified by  1 April 2019.

We look forward to having your organization on board this endeavor to directly approach citizens in an activity which will not only be beneficial to the environment, but which will also support NGOs and stakeholder’s consensus in knowing that we are all joining efforts and making a statement more or less at the same time throughout the Drin River Basin.

Feel free to disseminate the call!
