In a bid to ensure that the Republic of Congo National Water and Sanitation Policy document takes into account all sectors related to water and directly addresses the challenges of the WASH sector in the country, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources with the support of GWP-CAf and UNICEF organized a two day stakeholder consultation workshop from 25th – 26th November 2020 in Brazzaville.

Albania has made significant improvements in advancing the normative framework for gender equality in recent years. An online Technical Workshop on Gender Equality (GE) and Sustainable Development in Nexus attempted to discuss how gender is addressed in Nexus sectors’ strategies and policies and bring some concrete best practices on how gender issues can be addressed in development programmes.

Gathering more than 70 high level MENA representatives -from national and regional institutions involved in the sectors of water management, energy production, food and agriculture, and environmental protection, as well as financing institutions- the 1st Nexus Roundtable in the MENA and wider Mediterranean solidly contributed to the ongoing Dialogue processes in the Region for the incorporation of Water, Energy, Food and Ecosystems Nexus considerations in national and transboundary water resources management planning, including the link between the Nexus approach and vulnerable groups (women, youth, poor), and the enhancement of related capacities of MENA institutions and stakeholders.

The Country Water Partnership of Benin has facilitated the setting up on 20 February 2020 of the Local Water Committee (LWC) of the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in the commune of Tanguiéta, northern part of the country. This activity is part of the project "promoting IWRM in the Mekrou and Pendjari sub-basins" of the phase 2 of the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation Programme (ProSEHA) funded by the German Cooperation GIZ.

2020 proved to be a difficult year for people worldwide, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cascading effects this brought to every aspect of life, both personal and professional. In 2020, Global Water Partnership (GWP) in collaboration with The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as the custodian agency, which coordinates reporting on SDG 6.5.1 indicator, together with UNEP-DHI Centre and Cap-Net, operates the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, to support 60 countries in implementing the survey. For the PAN Asia region, the reports have successfully submitted and it is now the time to find out the lesson learned behind the process.

July 27, 2020, the Consultation Workshop of SDG 6.5.1 2020 Reporting was organized by GWP China, inviting twenty experts on water and environment authorities, media, research institutes, enterprises and NGOs.

After taking part in the GWPO Working in Virtual Environment Training (WiVe) ahead of the Virtual Regional Days 2020 , Global Water Partnership Central Africa (GWP-CAf) decided to share the knowledge acquired during this training with all Country Water Partnerships within its network.
