Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security – a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)

GWP, GEF IW:Learn and Partners have opened a MOOC on “Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security.” The aim is to bring together countries that share freshwater resources – giving them the skills to cooperate so that the shared resource is managed sustainably for the benefit of each country’s population. The self-paced MOOC is available on the SDG Academy platform - it is free and open to everyone - but especially designed for professionals who manage and make decisions about transboundary waters in ministries and river basin organisations, as well as young professionals and future leaders in transboundary waters, including undergraduate and graduate students.

GWP at WWWeek At Home

To bridge the gap between the 2019 and 2021 Stockholm World Water Weeks, the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) invited convenors to host a virtual adaptation of their World Water Week 2020-approved sessions between 24 and 28 August. The week goes under the umbrella of #WWWeek At Home. GWP co-convened several sessions.

SDG 6.5.1 monitoring activity in West Africa

The SDG 6.5.1 monitoring process started in the region where UNEP-DHI through GWP is bringing financial and technical assistance to 7 countries out the 15 ECOWAS member states to facilitate the data collection and reporting process.

Technical Workshop on Gender Equality for sustainable development in Nexus sectors in Albania

An online Technical Workshop on Gender Equality (GE) and Sustainable Development in Nexus sectors in Albania took place on 29 June 2021 with the participation of more than 50 representatives from gender related institutions, gender focal points from gender-related institutions, civil society, youth organizations and women empowerment activists and experts from Albania.

Understanding Culture – a Must for Equal Access

In our series of inter-regional discussions on gender equality and social inclusion, GWP Senior Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist Liza Debevec is exploring the ‘Action Areas’ of the GWP Gender Action Piece, to identify what GWP as an institution can do to apply them. In the fourth and final discussion, she talked to Hycinth Banseka and Julienne Roux about the issue of equal access to and control of resources. Banseka, who is Regional Coordinator for GWP Central Africa, says it is a complex issue in Africa, where the cultural context of each country demands different approaches, and where language and long-term thinking are key to progress.
