GWP will be represented in a 2-day online conference on the topic of women, water and climate on 2-3 November. The event, which is free and open to everyone, is the culmination of a series of webinars led by Women for Water Partnership (WfWP), and its partners NetWwater (NWW) and Soroptimist International of the Southwest Pacific (SISWP). GWP is also one of the sponsors of the event.
The GWP-WA Executive Secretariat Team met on 25 and 26 July 2018 at the premises of the Secretariat. The meeting aims were: (i) to make a mid-year assessment of the implementation of the annual work plan 2018 and (ii) to take the necessary steps to facilitate the attainment of the targeted objectives and the expected results by the end of the year for the network.
Eau Vive Togo has trained women and local development committees on the promotion of good hygiene and sanitation practices and environmental protection from 26 to 28 February 2019 in Danyi-Apéyéme (Togo). The activity is carried out as part of its project to support young people in protecting the environment, water and soil (PAJPEES).
GWP, Cap-Net UNDP, and other partners have introduced a new tool to foster Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) on a global scale. The online course, Unpacking the Opportunities of IUWM for Sustainable Cities, was held in October-November 2018. It attracted 154 applications, with 72 accepted, and a follow-up course is being planned for 2019. “The great thing with the course is that it can be adapted to fit any project as needed,” says GWP Senior Network Specialist François Brikké, who sees a big potential in further developing the course at regional and country level.
The annual Global Water Partnership’s Regional Meetings held in Amman, Jordan on 13-16 May 2019, with the participation of GWP regions, including the GWP West Africa represented by the Chair, the Executive Secretary, the Project Manager and the Communication and knowledge Manager.

To contribute to closing the visibility gap between entrepreneurs, investors and enablers in the “Water Nexus”, the 4IP Group and Waterpreneurs are co-organising a matchmaking forum for sustainable development in Lusaka, Zambia, on 19-20 June. GWP Southern Africa is an event partner.
