Following the end of the first phase of WACDEP in 2016, an African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) programme implemented by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and partners, a number of knowledge products have been developed to help capture the various lessons and experiences drawn from the various WACDEP projects. The products provide a more comprehensive understanding of the programmes innovative approach.

The Regional Coordinator visited the Ramitenga site where the Burkina WACDEP is implementing its pilot project for the demonstration of drip irrigation through solar energy to boost agricultural production. 

Water is the interconnector of all sectors, therefore, it is not possible to support sectors development without understanding the role of water as one of the important development foundation. As important as it is, water is still considered as social goods by development actors. This condition has created a very complex challenge for the development of water sector itself. In Southeast Asia region as well as in other regions, the complexities of water challenges then urged the need to work together to achieve water secure world.

On 9 October 2018, Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) together with partners from DriDanube project held Consultations on the Principles on Investments and Financing for Water-related Disaster Risk Reduction at the Romanian National Meteorological Administration in Bucharest, Romania.

After a meeting held with the new Technical Committee (TC) chair in November in Ouagadougou, a larger meeting with the Chair, all Technical Committee members and the staff of the Executive Secretariat was organized in Bamako on 13 to 15 December 2017. The meeting served as a platform for GWP-WA TC members to engage with the Chair and Executive Secretariat on how to work together to advance GWP work at the regional level and in countries in West Africa.

“Action on water is an absolute and ethical imperative…Acting now is a matter of human dignity, justice, and survival. Waiting to act is no longer an option.” This was one of the strong messages of the Budapest Water Summit 2016, which took place 28-30 November in Budapest, Hungary. GWP global and GWP Central and Eastern Europe joined forces to represent the network at the event.
