Final planning for the Mekrou Project

The staff of the Executive Secretariat carried out a retreat from 24 to 28 July 2017 in Leo, with the aim of updating the planning and organizing the final actions for a good end of the Mékrou project and the other initiatives.

Ghana: Strengthening the network - Participation in Inception meeting of Adaption Fund project

The project manager participated in the inception meeting for the Adaption Funds (AF) Project at Modern City Hotel in Tamale from 23rd to 24th May, 2016, where he shared thoughts on the emerging lessons of local community participation in water governance. This meeting was organised by the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

New Role of Hongqi SHANG in the GWP Nomination Committee

Mekrou Project in Niger, a water reservoir in the W Park for wild animals to reduce poverty

The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Niger in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, urban sanitation and sustainable development through the directorate of wildlife, hunting and protected areas is building a water reservoir for the wildlife of the W Park. The stock of 200 hundred thousand hectares has 30 water reservoirs of which only four are permanent i.e. they don’t totally dry up during the long dry hot season.

GWP and AMCOW – Collaborating for Success

GWP and AMCOW – the African Ministers’ Council on Water – have been working together for over a decade. AMCOW Executive Secretary Dr Canisius Kanangire recently visited the GWP secretariat in Stockholm to discuss current and future collaboration. Dr Kanangire says that GWP has a lot of knowledge, experience, and expertise that can support AMCOW to reach results in many aspects of water resources management.
