The installation of the innovative 'Zero Drop water cooler' marks the completion of GWP-Med's Zero Drop program in Folegandros, which boosted the island's water supply by an additional 42.000.000 litres of water annually.
A 3-part webinar series is held in February and March to strengthen climate and water linkages in national climate action plans such as the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and various investment mechanisms. World Water Week is a global event that brings the international community together to work towards a more water-wise world. This year, World Water Week was themed ‘Seeing the unseen: The value of water’, and took place 23-25 August (online only) and 28 August – 1 September (online and on-site in Stockholm).
CWP Benin and WACDEP-G team held on December 9 and 10, 2021 in Natitingou in Northern Benin, a workshop to encourage local stakeholders in the national part of the Volta Basin to improve practices, attitudes, behaviors, social norms, belief systems and regulations in order to promote gender-transformative investments in water security and climate resilience.
Water projects are six times more efficient when women are part of the team. Yet there are still massive gaps in the employment of women in the water sector, particularly for jobs that are onsite or require a strong science background. On 22 September, GWP collaborated with Community of Women in Water (CWiW) and World Bank Equal Aqua on a virtual event that discussed how to support women to join and thrive in the water sector.
