On June 5, 2018, on the occasion of the World Environment Day, “the Forum on Youth Volunteering & Aids on River Prevention” was organised in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. This city locates within the Pearl River Delta, bordering Hong Kong to the south, spreading over nine municipalities (including Macau). It makes up part of the Pearl Delta River built-up area including 160+ rivers or channels with 447 million inhabitants reaching urbanisation up to 95%.
GWP WA is collaborating with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to support the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) to integrate flood and drought management and develop early warning for its climate change adaptation measures.
(Ouagadougou, October 09, 2017) - The West and Central Africa Programme of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN / PACO), the Regional Partnership for the Conservation of Coastal and Marine area in West Africa and the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) released today October 9, 2017 the names of the winners of the fourth edition of the "Water and Environment Journalism" competition.
The competition which was launched on August 1, 2017 for one month had two price categories: Continental Waters and Marine and coastal waters. Two winners were selected for each category. This fourth edition registered the participation of many journalists from several countries in West Africa. The winners are as follows:

Ms. Brandstetter made the announcement yesterday at the House of the European Union in Vienna.
World Toilet Day, celebrated on 19 November, is about taking action to ensure that everyone has a safe toilet by 2030. This is part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: sanitation and water. 12 August marks International Youth Day - the 2019 theme is “transforming education”, highlighting efforts to make education more relevant, equitable and inclusive for all youth. GWP launched its Youth Engagement Strategy in 2015 and has since then been actively pursuing various youth initiatives. Coinciding with International Youth Day, GWP's new Youth Engagement Specialist, Rianna Gonzales, takes up her new position in the GWP secretariat in Stockholm, Sweden. She describes the youth sector as “an explosion of energy and hope."
Yekini Wallen-Bryan is the winner of the first-ever Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition. The 25-year-old Jamaican national was among seven (7) finalists in the regional competition and delivered the winning pitch, securing 4,000 Euros.

The Integrated Drought Management Project (IDMP) manager, Ms Félicité Vodounhessi made a follow up mission in Niger where she visited the Torodi pilot project beneficiaries. This project involves the development of the irrigated crop site for the women in the village of Kankantouti.
