GWP-WA regional coordinator had on 29 and 30 June 2021 in Niamey, a meeting to provide clarification on the methodological note for carrying out the study on the ''Finalization and operationalization of the Water Development and Management Scheme (SAGE) of the sub-basin of the Mekrou in Niger and definition of pilot initiatives for implementation''.
Under the framework of the implementation of the project entitled « Integrating Flood and Drought Management and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin » (VFDM), WMO, VBA and GWP-WA have planned to organize a series of eight (8) national training workshops in the six (06) countries of the Volta Basin on the theme "Gender Mainstreaming in the End-to-End Early Warning System for Flood Forecasting and Integrated Flood Risk Management".

The project TonFuturTonClimat (Your future Your Climate) has been officially launched at national level in the three target countries (Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin).
A series of national workshops in the six countries of the Volta Basin were held in Burkina Faso on 23 and 24 June, in Togo and Côte d’Ivoire on 28 and 29 June 2021.
In 2020, GWP South America organised a contest among regional Partners. The topic was on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and featured projects successfully carried out in 2020. The top 5 submissions were shared in a series of webinars during April to June this year – presenting results, conclusions, and concerns.
As part of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded regional initiative, "Lake Chad Management Improvement Support" project, jointly implemented by the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the LCBC in collaboration with GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf) organized a regional workshop in Douala, Cameroon from July 6th – 9th, 2021 to train national and regional trainers on the implementation of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) approach at the transboundary level within a climate change context.
Abstracts can now be submitted to the 22nd WaterNet/WARFSA/GWPSA Symposium to be held 20 -22 October 2021, under the theme "Integrated Water Resources Management for Sustainable Development in East and Southern Africa".
