Benin, implementation of the OmiDelta governance project

The OmiDelta project implementing partners signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the project on 22 February 2019 in the conference room of CWP Benin. The Benin Country Water Partnership (PNE-Benin), the Association to fight against Racism, Ethnocentrism and Regionalism (Association de Lutte Contre le Racisme, l'Ethnocentrisme et le Régionalisme -ALCRER) and the Benin Social Watch Network (SW-B) promote citizen monitoring at the national level and in the municipalities.

International Law on Transboundary Groundwaters – a Complex Maze

Since the start of 2021, GWP and the International Water Law Academy (IWLA) of Wuhan University have co-organised a series of online events called "Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train" - a 'train' of events stopping around the world at different topics related to the main theme. On 15 June, the initial series concluded with its 6th session on international water law and transboundary groundwater. "We are in front of a puzzle, and this can get very frustrating – there are a lot of pieces, and it takes a lot of time,” said Dr. Francesco Sindico when he described what he called a complex maze of international law applicable to transboundary aquifers.

Story of Mina 100 Marathons in Shanghai and Guangzhou

In December 2018, GWP China regional royal partner governments—Pearl River Water Resources Commission (Pearl River Commission) & Taihu Basin Authority of Ministry of Water Resources of China (Taihu Authority)—invited youth associations, local communities, NGOs, media and schools to the thematic campaign “Mina Guli on 100 Marathons” in Guangdong Province and Shanghai municipal respectively.

Coming together for sustainable development in the Drin River Basin; Five key lessons from Southeastern Europe for successful transboundary cooperation

Covering a geographical area of 20,361 km2 connecting 5 countries and 5 water bodies, the Drin Basin in Southeast Europe sustains unique ecosystems and endemic biodiversity, while supporting the economic activity of over 1.6 million people who call it home. However, four transboundary problems - deterioration of water quality, variability of hydrological regime, biodiversity degradation and disturbance of the natural sediment transport regime - are threatening the basin’s health with a direct impact on both the environment and livelihoods.

Webinar Series: Water and Climate

In July 2020, a webinar series will be held on “Coordinating, Implementing, and Financing National Climate and Water Policy Frameworks”. It has been developed by Cap-Net, UNDP, Global Water Partnership, AGWA, SIWI, and the Water Governance Facility. The webinars will highlight and contribute to strengthening climate and water linkages in national frameworks such as NDCs, NAPs, and various investment mechanisms.
