GWP CEE Summer School Water in the sustainable development – current challenges and opportunities will take place on 9-16 July 2017 at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. It is organised with the support of UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme, together with partner organisations from the region and under the patronage of UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development and Ecological Awareness, Technical University in Zvolen, Slovakia.

On December 7, 2015, the workshop was organized by GWP China Hunan in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province.

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) is aimed at building climate resilience in the Caribbean water sector, as a key part of sustainable regional and national development for economic growth and human security.

The Ghana Country Water Partnership (CWP-Ghana) was represented by the Communications Officer at a one-day seminar under the theme “Our Water, Our Life: Ghana’s Water Resources in Crisis.” This seminar was organised by the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) at the conference room of the Science and Technology Research Institute of the CSIR on 19^th April, 2016.

 

At the 11^th GWPSA Consulting Partners held in Pretoria from 12-13^th November, 2015, GWPSA Partners elected a new Chair.  In line with GWPSA’s Constitution, the Chair will serve for four years.  The new Chair, Dr. Kuiri F. Tjipangandjara is from Namibia. He obtained his D Sci Eng Degree in 1991 in Mineral Engineering and Chemical Metallurgy, at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Columbia University, New York City, USA. 

Towards an equal, friendly and secured international community, China has developed the blueprint of “One Belt One Road” for multiple bonds with more than 60 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa to work for a community of shared benefits, destiny and responsibility. Tsinghua University founded the Institute of Global Development in 2016 for promoting the One Belt One Road at national, regional and global level.

The newest recruit in the GWP global secretariat is Nicolas Delaunay, Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Manager. Two months into the job, Delaunay shares first impressions of his new role, with an important message to partners: “We need to emphasize the urgency we are in.” This interview is the latest in a year-long series of interviews celebrating GWP’s 20^th Anniversary.

The CWP Ivory Coast took part in the regional training and management experiences sharing workshop between the actors of the Lake Chad Basin and the Mano River Union organized from October 5 to 7, 2015 at the Hotel New Pergola at Abidjan, Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

 

GWP China and the World Resources Institute (WRI) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 2, 2017, in Beijing. Mdm Qihua CAI, Chair of GWP China, Prof. Yunzhong JIANG, Secretary General and the Secretariat officers visited WRI's office where had the MOU signing ceremony.
