The International Water Association (IWA) and its partners will hold the next edition of the IWA Water and Development Congress & Exhibition (IWA WDCE2017) on 13-16 November in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Youth H₂O forum joined a number of stakeholders in commemorating World Water Day which fell on 22^nd March 2016. The day was commemorated in two different places. The main event was held in Choma Southern province on the 21^st March, and the other event was held in Lusaka at Mtendere Clinic. 

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. The Global Mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is taking the lead in assisting countries in developing national drought plans through National Consultants.

A West African delegation of 10 participants from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and the regional level have taken part into the Green Climate Fund (GCF) workshop in South Africa on the financing of water-related projects. Their participation was made possible through the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) to this meeting from 19 to 21 September 2018.

March 22 marks World Water Day 2017. This year’s theme is wastewater. GWP has published two blogs about the theme, and conducted a Facebook Live interview with Rami Abdel Rahman of the Sweden Textile Water Initiative. Around the GWP Network, various celebrations are taking place. However, the main GWP celebration this year concerns the very website you are currently on – the launch of a completely new www.gwp.org.

The Government of Honduras is fully committed to implementing the SDGs. That is why the authorities have begun efforts to align the SDGs with national and programmatic objectives for development - a summary of work done to date has now been published.

Global climate is changing at an unprecedented rate and necessity of global political awareness that decisive action addressing climate change has risen over the last decades, but has often not translated into adaptation action. Especially the populations of global river deltas and coastal zones are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change occurring due to rising sea levels, increased magnitude and frequency of storms, flooding and salinisation. One of the main challenges faced by global institutions are to share gained knowledge, experience and expertise about adaptation in order to provide and implement the best possible adaptation measures to ensure human well-being.

Situated in Eastern Europe, Estonia is bordering the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland, between Latvia and Russia. Offshore, there are more than 1,500 islands belonging to Estonia. It has a maritime climate with wet moderate winters and cool summers. Important natural resources of Estonia include oil shale, peat, arable land and sea mud.

The Summer School „Towards 2030 Agenda: A summer school for climate change, innovation and youth advocacy in water management“ will take place on 1- 6 July 2018 at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.
