Sponsored by the Ministry of Water Resources of PRC, GWP, GWP Southeast Asia and GWP China formed an agreeable bridge between governmental authorities on the Lancang-Mekong River Basin. This year, GWP’s annual Network Meeting for Partners has been conducted for the first time in a “Follow-the-Sun” format. The objective being to engage as many of the network Partners as possible in a meaningful way, while keeping cost at bay, and also to make sure everyone who wanted could participate in their own language.
Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism was proposed by Chinese Primer Likeqiang ni the 17th China-ASEAN Leaders’ meeting held in November of 2015, which aims to strengthen all-round and friendly cooperation among China and Mekong countries and promote regional overall development. The First Lancang-Mekong (LMC) Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Jinghong, Yunnan Province of China in November of 2015 formally announced the establishment of the LMC Mechanism.
