On the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March), Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe has interviewed women in the water community across the Network on their journey to become successful in their professions, how to overcome obstacles they face as women, and also recommendations to other women. 

The official launch to restore the head source of the Mekrou basin was done on 20 June 2017 by the Mayor of Kouandé as part of the implementation of the Pilot Project to Support the Restoration of the Mekrou Basin (PAREM). This is the start of the campaign for the reforestation the site of “Makrou wirou” in the neighborhoods of Birni (commune of Kouandé).

A mission toured schools neighboring IWRM pilot sites of Mono and Couffo departments to , a monitor and evaluate the achievements of the teacher trained on hygiene and sanitation.

This mission went to the municipalities of Lalo, Dogbo, Lokossa and Athiémé on 25 and 26 May 2016. The schools visited are respectively ZOUNHOME, DEKANDJI / B OUEDEME and ADOHOUN DEKPOE. This action undertaken in partnership with the Belgian NGO, Protos was done by Mrs Aurore BIOKOU, Training and Communication officer of Benin CWP and Herbert GANSOU, Animator / Mono-Couffo LWP.

 

GWP took an active role in the Habitat III Conference, taking place in Quito, Ecuador, on 17-20 October 2016. Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development. It focused on the implementation of a New Urban Agenda, building on the Habitat Agenda of Istanbul in 1996. This was the first United Nations global summit after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

GWP has agreed to develop and implement an integrated water investment program for Zambia in partnership with the Ministry of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection in partnership with the Zambia Water Partnership (ZWP).

March 22 is World Water Day (WWD) named by the United Nations in 1993 to highlight the challenges associated with precious resource.

On the occasion of World Water Day, GWP China Hunan, with a team of volunteers from partner organizations, met elementary students in Yijiawan Center School of Shaoshan County, in Hunan Province. It's a routine of GWP China Hunan to organize "World Water Day" thematic campaign annually. The theme of 2017 is water saving and ecological development.

On the 4^th to the 6^th of May, 2016, GWPSA contributed to the National Adaptation Plans (NAP) process through its participation in a Training of Trainers workshop in Zimbabwe, with the aim of advancing the Zimbabwe NAP through the NAP Global Support Programme (GSP). The workshop was held in Kadoma, Zimbabwe, and 40 people attended. The participants came from various government departments, which include; Climate Change, Water, Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA), Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Local Government and Oxfam. 

This activity was commissioned to mitigate wasteful water behavior in the showers and washbasins

Under Water and Climate Development Programme (WACDEP), Myanmar WACDEP activity title is Development of the National Water Policy and Water Law with Integrating Water Security and Climate Resilience Aspects into Investment Planning and Decision Making Process. Its goal is to point out the integration of water security and climate resilience aspects to be included in the national water policy and water law.

With aiming the goal of the activity, the works have been initiated with making two assessment studies: Assessment of the National Water Policy of Myanmar (NWPM) and Assessment of the Current Situation of Water Security and Climate Resilience Aspects in Myanmar. After that, identification of these aspects to be integrated in NWPM, how to implement the integration process by means of consultative meeting which will be held among multi-stakeholders from water sector. Finally, selecting and prioritizing the action plans for integrating water security and climate resilience aspects into the NWPM.
 
To implement the one of action plans as a pilot study which has been selected from already identified National Adaptation Programs of Actions (NAPA). It is selected from water resources sector according to the prioritization of NAPA action plans. Accordingly, selection has been done for a particular area region within the country for pilot study to develop regional rainfall-runoff relationships. For that, Magwe Region has been selected for pilot study and collecting available data including historic records for rainfall and runoff data of streams that are situated in the region. Based on these collected data, regional rainfall and runoff relationships will be developed and these relationships will be given as input to identify and support the country flood early warning system establishment to be able to ensure and making decision for sustainable water management
