The Global Environment Facility-funded Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater Management (GEF CReW) Project is convening its final regional capacity building workshop at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from 15 – 19 February 2016.

The  Minister of Water and Sanitation, the Hon Nomvula Mokonyane,  has confirmed her wholehearted and enthusiastic support for the conference by endorsing the dates  3 – 7  November 2014,  and we urge all delegates and prospective delegates in turn to confirm their attendance and participation at the conference to the Secretariat.

In the past months GWP Central America has undertaken various activities to continue promoting the water goal which is set to be part of the post-2015 agenda.

In 2002, at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development, the Caribbean States committed to work towards developing integrated water resources management (IWRM) plans and water use efficiency (WUE) plans by 2005. Now, more than 10 years later, this paper looks into the measures taken and the progress that has been made towards adopting an integrated approach to water management. Technical Focus Papers are publications of the GWP Technical Committee that harness and share knowledge generated by GWP Partnerships.

Transboundary basins account for roughly 60 percent of global freshwater resources. Of 192 countries, 153 share 310 rivers and lakes, and 592 aquifers. These water resources serve 2.8 billion people, or 42 percent of the global population.

GWP has published its Annual Report for 2014, highlighting network achievements across all regions. GWP China and other 12 regional partnerships have the highlights in the report.

“Improving water governance for achieving financial sustainability in the Mediterranean” is the topic of the event organised by Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med), during the upcoming World Water Week in Stockholm, within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) labelled project ‘Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector’ and with the financial support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
