H.M. King Letsie III of Lesotho said that it is critical for world leaders to make a concerted effort to secure Africa’s water supply and mitigate all factors that jeopardise water and its sources. H.M. Letsie III was addressing the International High-Level Panel for Water Investments in Africa Event during on World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden on 30th August.
For the past 10 months, Malawi has been battling a cholera outbreak which health authorities have classified as the worst in decades. The outbreak has so far claimed over a thousand lives and recorded over 25,000 cases as of January 2023, with the case fatality rate standing at 3.3% as opposed to the less than 1% recommended by the World Health Organization.
A delegation from the Ministry of Water and Sanitation (MH/A) of Niger went on a study tour to Burkina Faso from 19 to 23 December 2022. The delegation led by the Secretary General of the MH/A, Mr. Maman Moussa included the Director of Legislation of the MH/A, Mrs. Ibrahima Naleyni Nana Mariama and the Permanent Secretary of the National Action Plan for Integrated Water Resources Management (PANGIRE) of Niger, Dr. Sandao Issoufou.

More financing needs to be made available for IWRM approaches and implementation from a variety of sources, including the public and private sectors. For the first time since the establishment of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) in 2004, Belize has now become an official Partner country of the GWP-C. It is well-known that Belize is a country based in Central America but has maintained strong ties to the Caribbean, as part of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Mainly due to the country’s geographical location, it fell under the GWP Central America Partnership.
