Water and River Education Awareness Program.

A total of 30 elementary school children and 4 teachers from SJK (C) Puay Chai 2 (a Chinese Medium school) participated in ‘Water and River Education Awareness Program” in Kuala Lumpur on the 12th of May 2012.

This program was organized by The Water Watch Penang (WWP) collaborated with Salcon Berhad (Ltd). Both WWP and Salcon are partners of MyCWP. This fruitful program which was held at the Lembah Kiara Recreation Park, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur in a mission to discover and learn about the importance of river and water education. The main objective of the river water awareness program is to help pupils increase their understanding of river systems and human behaviour which could contribute to unhealthy water quality. The students, aged between 10 and 12, trudged along the banks of the Penchala River in the morning as they were taught how to conduct physical water samplings and carry out checks on micro-organisms found in the river during biological water samplings. Students were also quizzed on ways to save water in their daily activities.
