Urban Water Management Challenges

GWP Indonesia workshop on urban water management challenges  which was held  on 28  November 2012 brought together experts on water management, government  officers, NGOs  and academia to deliberate  on the challenges of water management in urban area with  focus on issues related to waste water and drainage in Jakarta, Capital city of Indonesia.

They  key  speakers   were  Chair of Indonesia Water Partnership and  the Director General of  Water  Resources of  Indonesia, while technical  presentations  were delivered  by  officials  from  Environmental  Management  Board  of  Jakarta  Province, Waste  Water  Management  Company, Ciliwung- Cisadane  River  Basin Organization and  Directorate  of  Sanitation, Ministry  of  Public Works. The main topics deliberated  include  water use efficiency, increasing demand  for  effective  sanitation, community  sanitation, non-point  source  water  treatment, river  restoration, private  sector  role and  extension   services.

The workshop  was  closed  by  signing  an  agreement  to  set up  a strategic plan  for  joint  program  among  all  stakeholders  for  improvement  of  urban water management  in Jakarta.
